Some days you just never know what's going to leap out and hit you smack in the face..
Feeling as good as my earlier post suggested, I enjoyed my cab ride to the consultant to have the next tests on my heart and other bits. My cab driver was an Egyptian who has lived here and in the US for the last 27 years and was about to make a trip to his flat near the Red Sea to get a winter break and shake off the feelings of flu he has been experiencing. He was telling me how great the diving was there and I was thinking how good it would be to feel some warm sun on my skin and have a swim around with the Red Sealife.
And then...
Saline drip in the arm (at attempt number three, my body is so fired up into a healing mode that the first two clotted instantly), doppler soundings of the pressure in the transcranial artery accompanied by an excited 'There it is!' from the radiographer.
The outcome.. possible hole in the heart.. ! Need to go back in a week or so for another unpronounceable procedure - Transoesophageal Echocardiogram to see how large the hole is and then work out what the proper treatment should be.
Feels quite a relief to know that there's something tangible behind all these recent events. Now it's just a matter of not reading too many pseudo medical sites and talking myself into something that may not be even vaguely related to my condition.
One thing that does feel good is that some of the earlier episodes I have had over the years now seem to fall into place and have a single cause.
'All this rushing around has left me feeling quite tired', said Dougall.
'Time for bed', said Zebedee
