The Next Steps

Ok, this is where the squeamish should probably stop reading as it gets a little gory hereon in.



Maybe I'll just take the easy route and link to a good article on Patent Foramen Ovale.



The procedure lasts a couple of hours and recovery is pretty much immediate. There are some small risks associated with clotting and infection as well as heart arhythmia but these can all be managed during and after surgery.


The incision is made in an artery in my groin and the wee thing slipped all the way up to my heart. Voila. I can start deep sea diving the next day and parachute and fly fighter jets too; which is great because I can't do those things at the moment so this little device is clearly really good.
